Last Sunday morning, we headed out to a road trip to Outer Banks. Jim's Mom also rode down with us. Sunday evening, we got to Greensboro, NC. Driving straight through, it normally takes a little over seven hours, but with stops for lunch and bathroom breaks, it took us about 8 1/2 hours. Jim's Aunt Carol (Jim's Mom's sister) and Uncle Bill live in Greensboro and we made a pit stop there Sunday night. Monday morning, Jim and I headed off to Outer Banks and Jim's Mom stayed in Greensboro for the week. It took us about six more hours to get to Outer Banks.
We stayed for four nights and then Friday afternoon, we headed back to Greensboro. We stayed there Friday night, and then Saturday morning, the three of us headed home. We drove about 2,000 miles last week!
It was good to get away and a good change of scenery. The weather in the Outer Banks turned out to be about 10 degrees hotter than what weather.com had predicted and it was really, really humid. We were hoping for cool weather where we could sit on the beach with a nice breeze, but that didn't happen. We sat on the beach, but we were sweating the whole time. I guess we should be grateful there wasn't any hurricanes coming in!
Here's a photo I took right before we left Carol and Bill's house on Saturday morning. Jim looks like a giant... (it's Bill, Jim's Mom, Carol and Jim).
While vacation is good, sometimes being home is even better. We picked up the cats from Mom and Granny's last night, so we could all spend today just lounging and relaxing. I spent most of the afternoon napping on the couch with the cats. Now we're trying to catch up on all of our DVR'ed TV shows. Ahh.... it sure is good to be home!
